Position: Attending Physician, Internal Medicine
Location: HSS Main Campus (New York, NY)
Available Start Date: Immediate
Responsibilities:
At the direction of the Chief of Perioperative Medicine and Chair of the Department of Medicine, the candidate will provide the usual and customary duties and responsibilities of a member of the HSS Perioperative Medicine Department as a full-time employed physician with a faculty appointment, including obtaining and maintaining medical staff privileges at HSS.
The candidate will establish and lead a perioperative medicine practice dedicated to the comprehensive medical management of surgical patients across the continuum of care. This role will involve close collaboration with the Departments of Nursing, Orthopedics, and Anesthesia to ensure patients are medically optimized prior to surgery, including risk stratification, management of chronic conditions, and coordination of perioperative care plans. The candidate will also provide ongoing medical management in the post-operative period, rounding on an assigned inpatient panel, addressing acute medical issues, facilitating recovery, and supporting safe transitions of care.
Additionally, the candidate is expected to meet the following requirements:
- Maintain full-time engagement in the clinical, research, teaching, and/or service missions of the Department of Medicine and HSS.
- Demonstrate clinical competence and maintain satisfactory documentation of quality indicators as defined by the Department and approved by the Hospital Quality Council.
- Collaborate effectively with practicing physicians and administrative leadership to support an organized, efficient, and high-quality clinical practice.
- Serve as an attending physician on the HSS clinic service.
- Attend key academic activities on a regular basis, including Grand Rounds, Journal Club, and monthly perioperative business meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO required
- Current Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Hospital Medicine
- Active medical license in NY
