Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking a mission-minded Associate to join us as full time (37.5 per week) Primary Care Clinician (Nurse Practitioner) to serve our patients at our Rocky River Health Center.

 Summary

The Primary Care Clinician will provide comprehensive primary care services that emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health care problems alongside reproductive health care to optimize the health and well-being of our patients. The APRN will function autonomously in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide direct patient clinical care in health clinic setting.
  • Provides clinical examination, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic diseases, health promotion and preventive care, reproductive health care, and coordination of care with specialty providers.
  • Refers to specialists as appropriate when care and treatment is outside of the scope of the Nurse Practitioner’s experience and training.
  • Prescribes medications in accordance with Ohio laws and within the scope of practice, and monitors therapeutic response.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic studies (labs, imaging, etc.).
  • Develops and implements treatment plans.
  • Maintains EHR records in compliance with PPFA policies and regulatory standards.
  • Upon hire, begins training and/or completes privileging for device insertion and removal (implants, IUCs).
  • Displays commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission and values, and prioritizes equitable health care.
  • Exhibits cultural awareness and sensitivity in caring for diverse patient populations.
  • Participates as assigned in precepting APRNs to primary care.
  • Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
  • Advances own professional development through self-directed learning, continuing education and participation in peer review.
  • Manages emergency situations in the center.
  • Functions as a resource for other nurses, health care providers, and other clinical staff.
  • May provide on-call coverage as assigned.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Requires education commensurate with Ohio statute licensure requirements for practice capacity (Nurse Practitioner). Master of Science in Nursing. Must have current Ohio nursing license, certificate of authority and certificate to prescribe or be eligible for certificate to prescribe.
  • Must have an RN license in the State of Ohio, APRN license, and meet all requirements for credentialing and privileging
  • 2+ years of Primary Care experience
  • Valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation required
  • Current Ohio NP License Required
  • Certification/Endorsement for Family Nurse Practitioner Required
  • CPR/BLS Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association Required
  • Prescriptive Authority (DEA License) Required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to consistent compliance and accuracy in enforcement of MS&Gs
  • Ability to make informed, independent, and objective judgement
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with Electronic Medical/Health Record Systems
  • Ability to see 3-5 patients per hour within 6 months of hire and correctly code visits as required by CMS coding guidelines
