Texas Biomed is conducting a search for an onsite Molecular Unit Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the IRTC Molecular Unit. This role will be responsible for supervising laboratory staff, managing operational processes, and ensuring compliance with company programs and regulations.
The Role:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Molecular Unit, including scheduling, sample processing, data analysis, and staff development.
- Oversee hiring, training, promotion, and mentorship of laboratory personnel, ensuring cross-training and continuing education.
- Develop, perform, and manage experiments such as nucleic acid library preparations, gene expression, transcriptomics, epigenetic assays, and other molecular services.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency, quality, and laboratory growth.
- Document procedures, maintain up-to-date protocols, and ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, evaluate new instruments, and draft SOPs for new protocols as needed.
- Collect and analyze operational metrics to monitor lab performance, service delivery, and quality data.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and collaboration across the laboratory.
- Serve as liaison between the laboratory and internal/external stakeholders, providing technical expertise and support.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- B.S. in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or related field (M.S. or higher preferred)
- Minimum 3+ years of laboratory management experience, including oversight of multiple laboratory areas
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency in analyzing technical reports, documenting procedures, and reporting results clearly
- Excellent communication, project management, and multi-tasking abilities
- Hands-on experience in molecular laboratory techniques with willingness to perform bench work (~50% of the time)
- Ability to function independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and operational management skills
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, laboratory safety, and quality improvement initiatives
