Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an exceptional and experienced individual to join us as a Supervisor for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse Practitioners.In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of neonatal care, blending your clinical expertise with strong leadership to ensure the highest standards of patient outcomes. Core Clinical Duties & Privileges:
- Attend high-risk deliveries to provide immediate neonatal assessment and resuscitation at the request of obstetricians and perinatologists.
- Perform and manage neonatal consultations in the well-baby nursery, pediatric floor, and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
- Provide comprehensive clinical management for infants in the NICU and Special Care Nursery (SCN), including admissions, procedures, transport, and ventilator management.
- Collaborate with referring and specialty physicians to ensure seamless and coordinated care.
- Lead communication with the transport team during neonatal transports.
- Accompany critically ill infants to the operating room, providing specialized support to the surgical and anesthesia teams.
- Serve as a key resource for community pediatricians, offering expert telephone consultations on neonatal concerns.
Academic & Teaching Responsibilities:
- Lead daily teaching rounds with pediatric residents, medical students, and other advanced practice providers (APPs).
- Formally supervise, review, and co-sign clinical procedures performed by residents and APP trainees.
- Develop and deliver formal lectures as part of the academic curriculum for residents and medical students.
- Maintain your status as a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) instructor, leading NRP courses and mock codes.
- Actively contribute to the scholarly activities of the Division of Neonatology through research and publication.
- Participate in all required educational conferences and divisional meetings.
Operational & Administrative Leadership:
- Ensure 24/7 in-house on-call service and provide backup coverage for all required locations.
- Attend weekly discharge planning meetings to facilitate timely and coordinated patient discharges.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
- Oversee the comprehensive training and onboarding of all new APPs on clinical protocols and procedures.
- Define job expectations, monitor productivity, and ensure appropriate billing and coding.
- Manage the scheduling and assignment of APPs to maintain optimal staffing levels.
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the APP team.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) is required.
- National or Board APP Certification in Neonatology (e.g., NNP-BC) is required.
- AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructor certification is required.
- Extensive clinical experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise and mentor healthcare providers.
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in managing complex neonatal conditions
COMPENSATION:
Minimum Starting Base Salary: $146,057.60

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
