Department Overview
The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Clinical Nutrition and the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Center provides expert diagnosis and care of individuals with diabetes and complications in our Diabetes Center Clinics, and inpatient service. Our clinical interests include all areas of diabetes care and research. In addition to our commitment to outstanding clinical care, we are also proud of our research programs from basic science research to clinical trials. Our educational mission includes teaching on many levels, including but not limited to our fellowship program Endocrinology and Diabetes.
Function/Duties of Position
The duties of this position include:
- Assist in continuity care of patients with diabetes by collecting appropriate history, physical examination and laboratory data leading to a clear and well documents record of each encounter, including full assessment and plan
- Identify and communicate findings with all referring physicians and primary care physicians involved in the care of any given patients, at the direction of the Medical Directors of the Diabetes Center.
- Facilitate and coordinate all services and referrals needed for effective management of diabetes and its complications, including patient education, diagnostic procedures and subspecialty evaluation
- Assist in development of new programs serving patients with diabetes
- Assist in patient telephone call coverage for the Diabetes Center physicians and their patients
Required Qualifications
- NP with Master's Degree in Nursing or MS with BSN or PA with Current national certification.
- Current Oregon NP license at start date. ANCC Board Certification or NAP as a Nurse Practitioner in the specific area of specialization.
- Prescriptive Authority (DEA License).
- PA: Current national certification. Valid Oregon Physician Assistant license. Licensure under Cardiovascular Medicine MD.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ambulatory and inpatient experience with diabetic patients preferred
- Prior experience in clinical care of patients with diabetes as an NP or PA preferred
