Growing together.As the Physician Assistant under general direction of the clinical supervisor, you assume full responsibility in assessing, diagnosing, and treating those patients requiring sub-specialty treatment such as orthopedic, surgical, urological, and otolaryngological (ENT) care. Also includes working in an urgent care setting. You will work in a collaborative team practice that recognizes the patient as the central focus. You will support the physician in situations requiring physical assessment and complex communications with patients. Serves as a patient educator in areas of specialization.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs physical assessments on patients with specialized conditions in areas such as orthopedics, general surgery, urology, and ENT. Determines urgent versus emergent problems and triages patients to appropriate specialty physicians. Assesses and treats patients with support from other physician colleagues. May develop and implement a plan of care for these patients, as well as prescribe medications, exercises and/or other treatments
- Performs minor operative procedures including suturing and lesion excision. Orthopedic clinician should be proficient in cast application
- Collaborates with the physician in the management of patient care. Such support may include ordering and interpreting laboratory work and other diagnostic studies, assisting the physician in operative procedures, performing pre-operative histories and physical exams, and maintaining continuity of care through the exchange of information with outside health and social agencies
- Serves as a liaison between primary care providers and specialists such as general surgeons, urologists, orthopedic and ENT surgeons. Consults with primary care providers on issues related to patient care
- Teaches and counsels individuals and groups with regard to specific health care needs. Serves as an educator in areas of specialization
- Participates in the development of health education programs

Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program
- Currently or eligible for board certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Active and unrestricted APC license in the State of Massachusetts
- Current active DEA licensure/prescriptive authority or ability to obtain post-hire, per state regulations
- Current active Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration or ability to obtain post-hire, per state regulations
- Maintains BLS certification, professional certification as appropriate
- 2+ years of experience in orthopedics, urology, ENT and general surgery
Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $110,000 to $166,500. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
