Description
Position Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive urologic care in an outpatient clinical setting, working collaboratively with urologists and the care team to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of urologic conditions. The PA will perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, order and interpret diagnostic studies, provide patient education, and assist with in-office procedures and perioperative care as applicable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform histories and physical exams for new and established urology patients
- Evaluate and manage common urologic conditions (e.g., BPH/LUTS, hematuria, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, prostatitis)
- Develop and document assessment and treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Prescribe medications and initiate therapies per state scope of practice and clinic protocols
- Provide patient counseling and education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prevention strategies
Diagnostics & Documentation
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic testing (e.g., urinalysis, urine culture, PSA screening coordination, imaging coordination, uroflow/PVR if applicable)
- Ensure timely review of results, follow-up, and communication with patients
- Document all patient interactions clearly and efficiently in the EHR
Procedures (as trained/credentialed)
- Assist with or perform in-office urologic procedures such as:
- Catheter insertion/removal and management of urinary retention
- Trial of void protocols and follow-up
- Cystoscopy support (rooming, prep, assisting)
- Urodynamic testing support
- Prostate biopsy support
- Provide perioperative support including pre-op evaluation and post-op follow-up
Coordination & Collaboration
- Coordinate care with nursing, scheduling, imaging centers, hospital teams, and referring providers
- Support quality initiatives, patient access goals, and clinic efficiency efforts
- Participate in team meetings, protocol implementation, and ongoing clinical improvement
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk throughout clinic hours
- Ability to assist with minor procedures and patient positioning
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (supplies/equipment)
- Manual dexterity for clinical tasks and EHR use
Work Environment
- Outpatient urology clinic with exam rooms and procedure rooms
- Fast-paced, high patient volume environment
- Close collaboration with physicians, nurses, MAs, and front office staff

Requirements
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification
- Active (or eligible) state PA license
- DEA license (or ability to obtain)
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred if supporting procedures/surgery)
- Strong clinical documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and staff
- 1+ year experience in urology, internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, or surgical setting
- Experience with:
- Urology workups (hematuria, LUTS/BPH, stone disease)
- In-office procedures and perioperative care
- Next Gen EHR system
- Comfort counseling patients on sensitive topics (sexual health, urinary function)
