Description

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Nutrition and Genomics Laboratory, Jean-Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, Boston, Massachusetts, seeks a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH BIOLOGIST in population health and nutrition. Using artificial intelligence tools, the incumbent will apply genomics and nutrition concepts in combination with statistical methods to identify genetic variants and metabolites that link environmental and dietary factors and risk of metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes (T2D), and related phenotypes. This unique assignment in the area of precision nutrition includes (1) characterizing metabolites, epigenetic and genetic markers linking diet and lifestyle to T2D risk; (2) identifying novel relationships between dietary factors and metabolites in adult Hispanic populations; and (3) developing effective and precise strategies for prevention of T2D in Hispanic populations.

Requirements

This position requires a recent Ph.D. in genome biology, statistics, nutrition, genetics, epidemiology, population health, or a related field of study that has trained the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Experience and knowledge of statistical and computational methods used in genomics, metabolomics, population studies, bioinformatics, and data mining, along with programming skills in SAS, R and machine learning/artificial intelligence are highly desirable.
