Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center is searching for a compassionate, dedicated and knowledgeable nurse practitioner to serve as the primary medical professional for Judicial Circuit 14 (Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson and Washington Counties). This position will require availability for scheduled services in our 6 county area Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with an average of 25-30 scheduled hours in office per week (3-4 days per week scheduled in office). Additionally, this position requires on-call responsibilities the other days of the week (that the APRN is not scheduled to be in office) including after hours and weekends. Independent contractors can be used for relief for after hours on-call, up to 2 weeks per month (after hours is defined as weeknights and weekends), but the Staff APRN is responsible for assisting in recruiting and scheduling independent contractors.
Our main office is located in Panama City, with satellite offices in all of circuit 14 (Bay, Gulf, Calhoun, Holmes, Jackson & Washington Counties). The Staff APRN is responsible for medical exams on child abuse victims in each of the counties we serve and may need to travel to any of our offices in Northwest Florida (mileage is reimbursed) to provide services.
Qualifications: This position requires licensure in the state of Florida to practice professional nursing and certification in advanced or specialized pediatrics or family medicine nursing practice. It also requires experience in the evaluation and treatment of child abuse and neglect or agreement to receive training deemed necessary by the department for evaluating alleged abuse and neglect. CMS approved physician extender. APRN should have the ability to work independently as well as possess strong writing, communication, organization, time management, and computer skills. Experience working in the community is necessary, preferably in a community organization or similar role. APRN must be flexible, as some work on weekends and evenings may be necessary and on call is required. A current, valid Driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a reliable car are essential for this position as some travel will be required.
Primary Functions:
Provide diagnostic evaluations and medical consultations regarding abused and neglected children.
Prepare medical reports of evaluations and medical consultations in the computer information system
Provide depositions and court testimony
Attend Multidisciplinary Team Meetings, Child Protection Team Meetings, Quarterly Staff Meetings and all required trainings
Successful completion of a minimum of eight hours of training per year in child abuse, abandonment and neglect
Provide community outreach and education
Participate in after hours on call
