Physician, Head of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (GLG) with a professor title
within the Department of Medicine (DM)

Affiliated with the Department of Medicine, the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (GLG) of the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) provides specialized, high-level care for digestive and liver diseases, excellence in teaching across all levels, and internationally recognized innovative research. Its clinical activity encompasses the full range of specialized examinations and treatments, extensive outpatient and inpatient care, as well as a major involvement in the liver transplantation program.
Main missions:
- Lead, organize, and manage the development of a leading academic center of excellence in gastroenterology and hepatology
- Ensure and strengthen the expertise and quality of clinical services while fostering collaborations and synergies both within and outside the institution, in alignment with the priorities of the Department of Medicine and the strategic plan of CHUV.
- Unite, lead, and further develop high-level basic, translational, and/or clinical research.
- Oversee and lead undergraduate teaching (FBM), postgraduate training (ISFM category A training center, accredited for advanced training in hepatology), and continuing medical education.
- Ensure high-quality medical and scientific succession planning, strengthen the national and international reputation of the Service, and collaborate with hospitals within the Vaud Hospital Federation and across Switzerland.

Desired profile:
- Federal medical degree (or MEBEKO recognition), MD or MD-PhD.
- Specialist title in gastroenterology and hepatology (mandatory ISFM or MEBEKO recognition)
- Extensive clinical expertise in gastroenterology and hepatology.
- Unite, lead, and develop the Division’s clinical and academic research activities to a high standard of excellence, by supporting the acquisition of competitive peer-reviewed external funding and the production of publications in high-quality scientific journals, while also personally contributing to research activities by fostering innovation, including through her/his own research.
- Recognized leadership and management skills in directing clinical and research teams as well as fostering international collaborations.
- Expertise with proven experience at the professorial level in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
- Good knowledge of French (ideally native speaker or C1, minimum B2 with the ability to progress rapidly).
- Proven record of exemplary professional conduct: the successful candidate must demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and full compliance with the legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements associated with the position.
