The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking to recruit an academically-oriented Clinical Histocompatibility Laboratory Director for a tenure-track/tenured, fixed-term, or variable track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The faculty member will serve roles in the Histocompatibility Laboratory of UNC Hospitals. Clinical duties include review and sign off of test results, quality control/assurance data, test development/validation and provision of consultative services including on-call coverage. This position will offer exceptional opportunities for translational research through strong interdisciplinary research teams and excellent research core facilities. Excellent teaching opportunities are also available.

Requirements
The candidate must have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD. Postdoctoral fellowship training in Clinical Histocompatibility (ASHI approved) is required. The candidate must be board-certified or board eligible in Medical Laboratory Immunology (ABMLI or DMLI), and/or Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) and eligible to obtain clinical privileges at UNC Hospitals. Experience in histocompatibility testing (solid organ,hematopoietic cell transplant and HLA testing for other purposes) is required. Experience in clinical molecular genetic testing, especially next generation sequencing for infectious disease, and immune disorders as well as serologic testing for infectious, allergic and autoimmune disease is highly desirable.
