Description
University of the Cumberlands is seeking a core faculty member to join the experienced faculty in the hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. This position is a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track assignment, with rank determined by the candidate’s experience. The core faculty member will provide engaging, clinically focused, and evidence-based learning opportunities for students through online (asynchronous and synchronous) and in-person instructional delivery methods. Core faculty members will also contribute to curriculum development, student advisement, recruitment, and retention. Faculty will provide service at the departmental/school, college, university, and community level, for an institution grounded in shared faculty governance and professional service activities. The faculty are scholars, involved in building and integrating knowledge for the advancement of the profession and the University.
The DPT program's format allows the faculty member to live remotely from campus. However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in the Williamsburg, KY area for designated time periods each semester, according to their assigned teaching responsibilities and required program events.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is a six-semester hybrid program that emphasizes small class sizes, individualized student support, and innovative online and in-person educational technologies and approaches that foster a student-centered community of learning. The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program received initial accreditation from CAPTE in 2024.

Requirements
Preferred Candidate
The preferred candidate will have contemporary expertise to perform primary teaching responsibilities in the physiology/pathophysiology/exercise science coursework across the curriculum. Secondary teaching responsibilities will be determined based on best fit with the candidate’s areas of interest, expertise, and program needs, with preference for candidates who also have experience teaching and/or a relevant clinical background in acute/cardiopulmonary and/or pharmacology.
Qualifications
Education: Academic Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution with demonstrated clinical expertise and teaching experience (Ph.D., EdD, DSc, or equivalent); or
Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy Degree (DPT) with demonstrated clinical expertise, teaching experience, and current clinical specialist certification through ABPTS.
Licensure: Must possess a current unencumbered license to practice physical therapy in Kentucky or be eligible to secure a license or compact privilege to practice physical therapy in Kentucky within 90 days of employment start.
Other: Interest in and ability to use online instructional technologies; Ability to travel for face-to-face teaching in on-campus lab immersions and required campus events; Possess strong organizational, communication, decision-making, teamwork, interpersonal, technological, and personal leadership skills.
