Kopec Veterinary Associates is looking for motivated, enthusiastic equine veterinarians of all levels of experience who thrive in collaborative, team-centric settings. Our practice thrives and relies on working as a cohesive unit to provide exceptional care and patient/client experience. We support a healthy workplace where ideas are meant to be shared, and where each team member is elevated toward their own professional potentials. Our team places great value on mentorship, with a spectrum of student opportunities, including post-graduate internships. We also recognize that learning is a ‘forever process’ and that we each have much to gain from one anothers' strengths.
While a general practice, we offer a breadth of top-tier diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities. Our most recent equipment portfolio additions include the Sound Smart-RLT Sport regenerative laser system, an updated Equinosis Q platform and tablet, and a new Sound GE Logiq e Vet portable ultrasound. We have multiple digital radiography units (Sound Next wireless DR), and each truck is equipped with a Vscan Air dual-sided cordless ultrasound and a portable reproductive ultrasound. Our 3.5m gastroscope seamlessly functions in both clinic and ambulatory settings via Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing both the veterinary team and the owner to view the exam, save images, and more. We offer and support the use of orthobiologics, such as ProStride, as well as polyacrylamide gels, in addition to the long-standing platform of injectable and systemic joint therapies. Other equipment and therapies offered include ESWT (ProPulse by PulseVet), 1m upper airway endoscope, FLIR thermography, full in-house laboratory (Idexx LaserCyte and Catalyst Dx, with Parasight fecal analysis system), and stallside testing options (StableLab SAA, lactatometer, glucometer) in each vehicle.
Our clinic, situated on 23 acres of pastoral Lancaster County farmland, offers our predominantly ambulatory practitioners the flexibility to manage challenging cases through medical hospitalization, perform IV anesthesia and surgical procedures in a more controlled environment, and efficiency through haul-in/outpatient appointments. Our clients love our clinic for its convenience and cleanliness, as well as peace of mind knowing that they have the option to allow us to care for their beloved horses from start to finish. We offer mare reproductive management, including foalings and frozen semen AI, on-site. We do not offer hospitalization for any patients with or suspect of infectious disease and require rigorous vaccination of all healthy hospitalized patients.
Opportunities exist to expand our services to include complementary medicine, advanced sports medicine evaluations and therapies, advanced internal medicine examinations and diagnostics, structured rehabilitation and therapeutics, and more.
We are blessed to offer a 1:1 veterinarian-to-support staff ratio, and support continuing education and advanced certification of our licensed veterinary technicians. We also facilitate and encourage growth of technical skills and utilize our technicians’ capabilities to their fullest, as is allowed by law. Technician appointments not only support our ‘every cog in the wheel keeps us turning’ philosophy, but also enhance team well-being and decrease stress and strain on our busy doctors.
Our location is neatly positioned between Harrisburg and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We are a stone’s throw from the Amtrak line that offers easy travel to Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and New York City. We have many paths, trails, and water to meet all of your outdoor sporting desires. There are fantastic opportunities to explore your foodie side, with fine dining, microbreweries, and wineries in our immediate area. Live music, farm team sporting events in baseball and ice hockey, shopping, amusement parks, family-friendly adventures, and agriculture-centered events are a constant, with Hershey Park and the Pennsylvania Farm Show Arena well within our radius.

Requirements
Our Associate Veterinarian position offers a four-day work week and rotating nightly and weekend on-call between all full-time veterinarians. At this time, doctors are on emergency duty 1-2 nights per week and every third weekend. With practice growth, we anticipate one night on call per week and one weekend on call per month. Doctors must remain within the practice radius at all times when on emergency duty. Doctors receive 100% of the emergency and urgent care fees billed, paid on a quarterly basis.
Currently, doctors may elect if they would like to participate in the on-call schedule for in-house foaling duty, but it is not a requirement. All in-house deliveries are attended by a veterinarian and an assistant. All participating staff and doctors must be within 15 minutes of the clinic during after-hours if on foaling duty.
Medical case management of hospitalized patients is the responsibility of the admitting veterinarian. Support staff, in-house veterinarians, and on-call veterinarians work in tandem to ensure follow-through of the primary doctor’s treatment plan and case objectives. Overnight remote monitoring is made possible by Wi-Fi connected cameras in every stall.
KVA requires all doctors and staff to present themselves in clean and professional attire, be mentally, physically and emotionally prepared for each day, treat their colleagues, coworkers, and clients with respect at all times, and bring a positive attitude.
We recognize that our profession is frequently demanding, in many forms. Through our workplace culture of camaraderie and teamwork, we aim to ease one anothers’ burden. Our practice’s foundation is also built upon open communication. We work through problems, whether on a practice or individual level, together.
KVA offers a comprehensive fringe benefits portfolio, including paid vacation and sick time, paid long-term disability and term life insurance, 90/10 cafeteria health insurance, SIMPLE IRA, voluntary short-term disability, paid continuing education, paid malpractice insurance, licensing, subscriptions, and dues.
All applicants must have or have the ability to obtain a valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Class 2 USDA Accreditation, and a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
