Role Summary:
The Orthopaedic Trauma Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) seeks to add an
experienced physician to our growing and dynamic service, based in New York City. The physician
will serve as a member of the faculty of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service and will practice at HSS
and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine.
The Attending Physician will be a member of the HSS Medical Staff within the Orthopaedic Trauma
Service and is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered clinical care while contributing
to the academic, research, and operational priorities of the Trauma Service and the institution. Under
the direction of the Trauma Service Chief, the attending physician will maintain and grow a clinical
practice, participate in teaching and research activities, contribute to service and enterprise initiatives,
and uphold HSS standards of excellence, professionalism, and collaboration. As a member of the
Trauma Service, the physician will also support the HSS at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell
Medicine (NYP/WCM) program, an established tri-party collaboration between HSS, NewYork
Presbyterian, and Weill Cornell Medicine. The program brings HSS's orthopaedic expertise directly
into the NYP/WCM care environment, providing comprehensive trauma coverage for patients
presenting through the emergency department and coordinating timely fracture and trauma care.
Responsibilities:
Perform the duties of a full-time attending physician within the Orthopaedic Trauma Service,
including obtaining and maintaining medical staff privileges and participating in HSS clinical
access and scheduling platforms.
Provide clinical services and build a growing clinical practice at HSS locations, including but
not limited to HSS Main Campus, as directed by the Service Chief.
Deliver comprehensive operative and non-operative trauma care, ensuring timely
management of fracture and trauma cases.
Provide HSS at NYP/WCM emergency department trauma call coverage as assigned by the
Service Chief.
Participate in HSS and Trauma Service conferences, business meetings, research meetings,
and assigned committee meetings.
Advance academic and research priorities within the Trauma Service, consistent with HSS’s
mission and standards of excellence.
Participate in local, regional, national, and international professional activities and societies, as
appropriate.
Provide teaching, supervision, and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows at
HSS in accordance with their academic rotations as set by the Service Chief.
Contribute to service-level and enterprise priorities, including but not limited to initiatives
related to patient access, quality, patient experience, and operational performance and
growth.
Model professionalism and uphold HSS standards of conduct through respectful, accountable,
and collaborative interactions with patients, colleagues, trainees, and staff.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Service Chief and/or
Surgeon-in-Chief, consistent with role expectations and organizational needs.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
MD required
Current Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery
Completion of a Fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery
Eligible for unrestricted medical license in the States of New York, New Jersey, and
Connecticut
