Inpatient Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (NP) or (PA) – Nocturnal Cardiovascular Liaison

University Health and UMA are seeking a skilled and dedicated Inpatient Surgical Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our surgical care team. In this role, you will manage the comprehensive continuity of care for surgical patients throughout their hospital stay. You will collaborate closely with Cardiothoracic surgeons, residents, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.

Position Highlights

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts.
• Work-Life Balance: Only 1–2 weekend shifts per month.
• Clinical Focus: High-acuity inpatient cardiovascular care and structural heart post-op monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Inpatient Liaison: Serve as the primary overnight clinical contact for the Cardiovascular Center.
• Patient Care: Provide specialized, high-quality care for well, acutely ill, and chronically ill cardiac patients.
• Overnight Monitoring: Manage a specialized patient population, including:
• Post-LVAD and Heart Failure patients.
• Post-cardiac stent, TAVR, Mitra-clip, and other structural heart cases.
• EP procedure recoveries (atrial fibrillation ablations, new pacemakers).
• Post-CABG and valve patients (post-UMA CT Surgery).

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience:

•         Graduate of an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) program.
•         3+ years of registered nursing experience
•         Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
•         2+ years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP). Preferred
•         Strong background or specialized experience in Cardiology. Preferred

Licensure & Certifications:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas, Texas APRN licensure/credentialing.

National certification as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care preferred).
