Aiken, South Carolina Emergency Medicine Physician Locum Tenens | 40 Hours of Physician Coverage Daily
Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians (ABEM) for locum coverage in Aiken, South Carolina. This community emergency department offers robust physician and APC coverage across all shifts, a strong subspecialty backup network, and competitive compensation with full travel support.
Assignment Highlights

- Shift Structure: All shifts available
- Physicians: 7a–4p, 11a–9p, 4p–2a, 9p–7a
- APCs: 8a–6p, 11a–9p, 6p–4a
- Coverage Model:
- Physicians: 40 hours/day
- APCs: 30–36 hours/day
- Annual ED Volume: ~40,000 visits
- Patient Volume: 2–2.3 patients/hour
- Hospital Beds: 273 | ED Beds: 35
- Fast Track: Available
- Admission Rate: 20–25%
- Trauma Designation: Transitioning to Level IV (currently non-designated)
- EMR: Cerner
- Privileges: Standard credentialing timeline (no temporary privileges noted)

- Full range of Emergency Medicine practice across all acuity levels
- Dedicated ICU with intensivist support
- Subspecialty backup includes: Anesthesiology, Cardiac Cath, CT Surgery, General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Infectious Disease, Pulmonology, Radiology, Urology, Vascular Surgery, and more
- Referral Resources: Trauma (AUMC), Pediatrics (AUMC), Burn (Doctors Hospital)
- Board Certification: ABEM required
- Licensure: Active South Carolina medical license or willingness to obtain
- Certifications: ACLS & ATLS required
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years Emergency Medicine preferred
- Skills: Full-scope EM physician practice, comfortable collaborating with APCs
- Robust staffing with 40 hours/day physician and 30–36 hours/day APC coverage
- Strong subspecialty backup and referral network for trauma, burn, and pediatrics
- ICU with intensivist coverage on site
