Whole Health Oncology is seeking a compassionate Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about women’s health to join our gynecologic oncology team.
We are an independent private practice founded by Shazia Bashir, MD, MPH, a double-board-certified physician who completed her residency at Johns Hopkins University and fellowship at Columbia and Cornell Universities.
Our practice provides advanced surgery, evidence-based medicine, and whole-person care for women with gynecologic cancers and complex benign gynecologic conditions. We coordinate chemotherapy and immunotherapy recommendations and participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards with medical oncology and radiation oncology.
Our THRIVE program integrates nutrition counseling, yoga, meditation, and breathwork to support patients throughout treatment and survivorship. Our Woman-to-Woman program connects patients with mentors to build community and support.
The position includes outpatient care, inpatient care, and first assisting in robotic and open surgeries. Our office is located on the UF Flagler campus, with surgeries and inpatient care at UF Health Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Florida

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
- Perform hospital inpatient rounds and consultations.
- First assist in robotic and open surgical procedures.
- Place preoperative and postoperative orders and maintain surgical case logs.
- Document outpatient encounters in the practice EMR (Athena) and inpatient encounters in the hospital EMR (Epic)
- Manage the clinical follow-up inbox, including reviewing laboratory results, imaging, and pathology; returning patient calls; and coordinating next steps.
- Learn and demonstrate proficiency in office procedures, including colposcopy and gynecologic biopsies.
- Collaborate with the physician, clinical staff, and referring and consulting providers.
- Participate in ongoing gynecologic oncology education, practice growth initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.
- Demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and respect in every patient and team interaction.
Schedule and Compensation
- Typical schedule is: Monday (1/2 day of clinic), Tuesday (OR), Wednesday (full day of clinic), Thursday (OR), Friday (1/2 day of clinic)
- Full-time, Monday through Friday (1/2 day)
Night and weekend first call shared among providers. Call is always by phone, No in-house call. Phone calls on nights and weekends are very rare. We do not take ER call, Gyn Oncology functions as a consult service and we admit to the hospitalists. As we only give recommendations for chemo, do not order the chemo, any chemo admissions would be managed by the Medical Oncologists.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- At least one of these: experience in gynecologic oncology, women’s health, OR abdominal surgery
- New graduates are NOT being considered
- Graduation from an ARC-PA-accredited Physician Assistant program or an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- For Physician Assistants: current NCCPA certification and an active, unrestricted Florida PA license or eligibility to obtain one before start date
- For Nurse Practitioners: current national board certification and an active, unrestricted Florida APRN license or eligibility to obtain one before start date
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- A strong interest in women’s health, surgery and/or gynecologic oncology.
- Compassion, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and clinical documentation skills.
- Good bedside manner
- Willingness to provide outpatient and inpatient care, first assist in surgery, and participate in shared night and weekend call.
- Commitment to continued learning and developing proficiency in gynecologic oncology care and office procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience first assisting in robotic or open surgery.
- Interest in nutrition, exercise, yoga, and whole-person approaches to health and recovery.
