Physician Assistant (PA-C)

timely, dignified, and clinically appropriate care. This is an opportunity to practice medicine with meaningful

The Opportunity: Community Care Clinic is a free and charitable clinic providing medical, dental, vision, behavioral health,
medication-access, and supportive services to uninsured and underserved residents of Forsyth County. Our
work is grounded in respect for the dignity of every patient and strengthened by collaboration among employed
staff, volunteer clinicians, learners, interpreters, and community partners.
The Physician Assistant is a central member of CCC's mission-driven clinical team. The PA provides accessible,
evidence-based primary and preventive care while helping patients navigate financial, language, transportation,
medication-access, and other barriers. Because CCC operates as a free and charitable clinic, this contribution
extends beyond the examination room.
Core Responsibilities: Evaluate and treat patients; diagnose and manage common acute and chronic conditions within the PA's
education, experience, competencies, privileges, and authorized practice arrangement.
Develop evidence-based treatment plans; prescribe and monitor medications; order and interpret
appropriate laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies.
Review and act on clinically significant results, patient messages, and urgent matters promptly, including
reasonable follow-up outside scheduled clinic hours when patient safety requires it.
Explain diagnoses, medications, testing, warning signs, and follow-up plans in language patients and
families can understand.
Coordinate referrals and care with physicians, nurses, volunteer providers, interpreters, medication-access
staff, and community partners.
Maintain complete, accurate, timely documentation and comply with HIPAA, CCC policies, quality
standards, and applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
Support approved learners, new-provider onboarding, community outreach, clinic improvement initiatives,
and responsible stewardship of limited and donated resources.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program and current NCCPA certification, or ability to
obtain certification before beginning clinical duties.
Current, unrestricted North Carolina PA license, compact privilege, or documented eligibility to obtain
required authorization before beginning clinical duties.
Current Basic Life Support certification and eligibility for credentialing, privileging, prescriptive authority,
and any required supervising-physician or team-based practice arrangement.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, organization, and follow-up skills.
Demonstrated commitment to CCC's mission and to respectful, compassionate care for uninsured, low
income, culturally diverse, and medically underserved patients.
Ability to collaborate effectively with employed and volunteer clinicians, staff, learners, interpreters,
community partners, patients, and families.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of outpatient primary-care, family-medicine, internal-medicine, community-health, or
free-clinic experience; strong new graduates may be considered when appropriate clinical support is
available.
Experience managing diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular risk, respiratory conditions, and
other common chronic diseases.
Experience serving uninsured, low-income, immigrant, refugee, Spanish-speaking, or medically
underserved patients.
Bilingual English/Spanish ability strongly preferred.
Experience with medication-assistance programs, learner precepting, public health, community outreach,
quality improvement, or local resources for uninsured patients.

Schedule and Working Environment:
This is primarily an in-person clinical position. The schedule will be established based on clinic needs and
employment status and may include occasional evening or weekend outreach, meetings, or clinic activities. Work
involves direct patient contact and normal medical-clinic exposure risks; appropriate infection-control and
workplace-safety procedures are required.
