- Postdoctoral Research Associate
Description
The Stevenson Lab in the Department of Physics seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop and apply quantum sensors to problems in biophysics. Quantum sensors exploit the coherence and state-dependent response of individual quantum systems to detect magnetic, electric, and thermal signals with high sensitivity and nanoscale spatial resolution, opening access to biophysical structure and dynamics that are difficult or impossible to reach with conventional techniques.
The postdoc will join an interdisciplinary program that combines quantum sensing instrumentation, surface and interfacial chemistry, and the physics of the target systems, with current directions including biocompatible sensing platform development, electron transfer and spin states in metalloproteins, and nanoscale dynamics in biological membranes. There is substantial scope to shape a specific project around the candidate's background and interests - whether in quantum sensing and instrumentation, surface/interfacial chemistry, or biophysics - and we welcome strong applicants from any of these areas with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary work. The position is based at the Boston campus and is an in-person, experimental role.
