Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) is seeking a dedicated Surgical PA to join our collaborative, multidisciplinary team. In this critical role, you will work hand-in-hand with our top-tier physicians to assist in surgery and manage the day-to-day clinical needs of our thoracic patients. You will be a vital advocate for patient-centered care, utilizing evidence-based medicine to improve outcomes while mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals—including providing crucial support to our surgery residents. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical & Surgical Excellence: Assist in thoracic surgeries and perform accurate history and physical assessments. You will manage surgical conditions, utilize advanced procedural skills, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and safely prescribe medications (in accordance with NJ regulations).
- Patient-Centered Care: Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care and education to patients and their families. You will evaluate transitions of care, promote self-management for chronic conditions, and serve as a strong advocate to remove obstacles to patient care progression.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Facilitate coordinated care through daily interdisciplinary rounds. You will serve as a clinical resource, identifying process improvement opportunities and working closely with our surgery residents and multidisciplinary team members.
- Mentorship & Education: Precept PA students, mentor fellow PAs, guide surgery residents, and participate in educational programs as a clinical expert.
- Innovation & Research: Integrate new clinical knowledge into practice, evaluate current protocols, and participate in clinical research. You will have the opportunity to promote HMH PA practice recognition on local, national, and international stages through conferences, publications, and presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
- Licensure & Certification:
Active Physician Assistant License (New Jersey).
National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification.
AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

COMPENSATION:
Minimum Starting Base Salary : $149,177.60
